family lounge

The house has two living spaces, with the family living being just that- a living space dedicated to every day family life.

This room is an extension of the kitchen and dining, so when we are working in the kitchen we can still watch over and have the kids playing in the lounge.

There is a sneaky TV in this room (a neccessity for all families), but it tucks away into the feature wall so that it doesn’t have to be out and on display 24/7. This was a tricky job for the team, but they nailed it, and you would never know.

The sofa is custom built for the space, with the priority to be large enough for the whole family and to be able to tuck toys away under when not being used.

the grand textured wall

As you can see, this house is about simplistic colours but uses a lot of texture to create warmth and points of interest. With the layout of this house being open in the upper floor, we wanted one element that carried through the length of the level to tie each function together.

We designed a custom textured wall that starts as a feature wall in the family living, and wraps up onto the ceiling all the way through entry, stairway and right into the lounge area.

This is an inverted scollop design which was CNC cut onto MDF panels, seamlessly placed and plastered on the walls, and finally painted in Dulux Haast Half. It is such a beautiful feature and casts lovely shadows with the different lighting throughout the day.

HIDDEN TREASURE

You would never know, but there is actually a 75” Samsung TV that slides inside and behind this textured wall, so that we can pop it away when it isn’t in use.

the sofa

We wanted a sofa that was big enough to fit the whole family comfortably, while also being able to accomodate safe play time on the side (as well as being able to store away toys underneath the sofa).

We designed this sofa ourselves with an extension for the kidsplay area.

The sofa is an American Oak base from South Pacific Timbers, and we had Carters Upholsters make up the squabs and cushions in Allium Bronze fabric from James Dunlop.

Corban put it together himself. Cushions are from A&C Homestore, and the Round White cushion is from Pampa.
